Unit 1: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
This unit covers the principles of assessment, different methods, planning assessments, involving others, making informed decisions, understanding quality assurance, legal and good practice requirements, and managing assessment information. Assessment is through written explanations and assignments.
Unit 2: Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment
This unit focuses on planning assessments, making informed decisions, recording outcomes, adhering to legal and good practice requirements, and conducting assessments through observation, questioning, discussions, and examining work products and learner statements. Assessment is done through observation of your assessment activities, questioning the learner, discussions, and examining their work products.
Unit 1 of this qualification is assignment-based, and Unit 2 is performance-based.
To successfully complete the qualification, you must have access to two learners who are ready to be assessed.
Your assessment practice must be observed live by a qualified and experienced assessor, with internal quality assurance (IQA) in place. A professional discussion will also be conducted to confirm your competence and understanding of assessment practice.
